Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full

Strengths

  • Whole video from one input A prompt or script becomes scenes, characters, voiceover and music without a timeline editor.
  • Published per-second rates The FAQ lists exactly how many credits each video model uses per second.
  • Editable source files Besides the video, a project can be downloaded as a .zip of scripts, images and clips for another editor.
  • Watermark-free paid output Every paid plan, starting with Standard, lists watermark-free videos.

Limits

  • No free plan Creating and downloading videos both require a paid plan.
  • No refunds The terms describe purchases as final sale, reviewed only case by case.
  • Premium models burn credits fast Seedance 2.5 uses 64 credits per second, 16 times the Base model.
  • Adult accounts only The terms require users to be at least 18, although the EDU program invites students from elementary school up.
  • Short-lived top-ups Purchased credits expire after the current and next billing cycle.

Who it suits

  • Faceless channel and short-form creators Instant Mode and vertical 9:16 output are aimed at TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels.
  • Teachers making lesson videos The EDU plan, after verification, gives 1,000 credits a month for $6, or $60 a year.
  • Storytellers who need recurring characters Character Library keeps the same characters across stories in Director Mode.
  • Not for trying before buying There is no free tier, so even a first test video means paying for a month.
  • Not for under-18 users The terms and privacy policy exclude anyone under 18 from holding an account.

Which plan fits?

Smallest plan whose monthly credits cover your number with 15% spare for regenerations. Arithmetic from the plan table above, not a usage test.

How far does it go?

  • Seconds of video per Standard monthStandard gives 1,500 credits. At 4 credits per second on the Base model that is 375 seconds, about six 60-second videos (240 credits each). At 40 credits per second on Seedance 2.0 it is 37 seconds, so a single 60-second Seedance 2.0 video (2,400 credits) needs Plus at 3,000 credits. At 64 credits per second on Seedance 2.5 it is 23 seconds. A $5 top-up of 500 credits buys 125 Base seconds or 12 Seedance 2.0 seconds. Only video generation rates are published; other steps are not priced here. Arithmetic on published plan credits and per-second rates, not a statement by Mootion.

Can you use Mootion without paying?

No. The FAQ says Mootion is now a paid product and that creating and downloading videos both need a paid plan. Directory pages that still describe free starter credits are out of date. The cheapest plan open to everyone is Standard at $15 for one month, and the terms call every purchase a final sale, with returns looked at only case by case. If you want to test storyboard-style video generation before paying anything, LTX Studio starts with a free plan of 800 one-time credits.

Teachers, and according to the FAQ students, can apply for the EDU program with proof of status. Once approved, they can buy the EDU plan: 1,000 credits a month for $6, or $60 a year, with Standard features.

Why does the model choice decide your bill?

Mootion V5.0 lets you pick the video model for each project, and each model has its own rate. The FAQ lists the credits charged per second of generated video:

  • Base and MiniMax H3 Flash: 4 credits.
  • MiniMax H3: 20 credits.
  • Seedance 2.0 Mini: 25 credits.
  • Seedance 2.0: 40 credits.
  • Seedance 2.5: 64 credits.

The same rates apply to the Image-to-video tool. Some models generate sound and picture together; with the rest, you add narration afterwards through the Voiceover tool. Image-to-video duration limits also depend on the model, and the FAQ does not list them per model.

Instant Mode or Director Mode?

Instant Mode goes straight from one prompt to a finished clip and is built for TikTok, Shorts and Reels. Director Mode first breaks the idea into a storyboard of scenes. Each scene holds a description, dialogue, sound effect, camera motion and duration, and scenes can be added, split, merged or deleted before rendering. Saved characters from the Character Library are added in Director Mode, and Smart Reference uploads lock in a look, motion or style.

The FAQ also lists 16 smart templates, from faceless short videos and bedtime stories to bilingual dialogues and religious stories, plus output in 17 languages.

What do you own, and what may Mootion reuse?

The two official documents describe ownership differently. The FAQ says Mootion content is under a Creative Commons 4.0 license so it can be posted to YouTube. The terms say that videos and files made from what you submit are owned by you, subject to Mootion’s ownership of its own materials. The terms also give Mootion a worldwide, irrevocable license to use your assets and data generated from your submissions to improve the service. The music library is described as royalty-free.

For commercial work, the terms are the binding document; ask support which one applies before a client project.

Who is allowed to sign up?

The terms require every user to be at least 18, and the privacy policy asks anyone under 18 not to register or buy anything. The FAQ, however, opens the EDU program to students from elementary school to university and lists kids stories among its templates. A teacher can make videos for a class; a pupil should not hold the account.

How could you check Mootion before committing to a year?

Proposed evaluation · not performed yet

Check, on one month of Standard ($15), whether a short script gives a usable video and how many credits it really uses.

  1. Note the balance of 1,500 credits.
  2. Paste a 120-word script you wrote and render it in Director Mode at 9:16 on the Base model.
  3. Record the video length and the credits charged; at 4 per second, 40 seconds should cost about 160.
  4. Download the .zip and check that the script, images and clips are inside.
  5. Cancel before the renewal date.

Accept if the charge matches the published rate and the voiceover follows the script. Reject if credits are charged for steps the FAQ does not price. No result is recorded here.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mootion give refunds?

Generally no. The terms say all fees are non-refundable and that products are sold as final sale, with returns reviewed case by case. Subscriptions renew automatically, so cancel before the renewal date, either from the subscription page or by emailing support@mootion.com, to avoid the next charge. Invoices and receipts are available through the Stripe billing page.

How long do extra Mootion credits last?

Not long. Credits bought as top-ups, starting at $5 for 500, stay valid through the current and the next billing cycle, then expire. Plan credits reset every 30 days and are always spent first. Referral credits are the exception at 12 months: 200 for each friend who becomes a paid user, up to 2,000.

Which languages can Mootion videos use?

The FAQ lists 17 output languages: German, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Malay, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, Russian, Italian, Greek and Kazakh. The interface itself is offered in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese and Japanese, so menus may not match the narration language.

Does Mootion have an API?

Yes. The API page describes a REST API that generates videos with templates, characters, voices, aspect ratios and multilingual output from your own platform, with documentation and case studies. Prices for API use are not published on the page; access starts with a demo booking, so expect a separate agreement rather than the app plans.

Who operates Mootion?

HK Mootion Limited, a Hong Kong company, according to the site footer and the invoice emails described in the FAQ. Payments run through Stripe. The terms send disputes to binding arbitration at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, with Hong Kong as the seat, and require users to be at least 18.
