Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Reviewable handoff A branch diff and preview can be examined before the production change.
- Different team controls The plan choice can reflect access and data-policy needs rather than credits alone.
- Credits can carry over Unused monthly credits roll over for 65 days, and purchased credits last one year on a paid plan.
Limits
- Free offer differs by account New-user one-time credits must not be described as a universal monthly refill.
- Publication is a real operation Publishing can merge a pull request and update the production deployment.
- Hosting cost sits outside the plan price Vercel, database and external API charges need their own budget line.
Who it suits
- Teams reviewing a small web interface Useful when acceptance includes code, keyboard behavior and deployment ownership.
- Teams with data-handling requirements Business is $100/user/month and lists data opt-out controls that lower plans do not.
- Buyers expecting a complete hosting budget from the v0 price Confirm Vercel and any database or external API charges separately.

How far does it go?
- Three-person team on PlusPlus is listed at $30/user/month with $30 of included monthly credits per user: 3 x $30 = $90/month for three seats, with $90 of individual credits included. Purchased shared-pool credits, hosting, databases and external APIs are not in that figure, and the pricing page also lists $2 daily login credits that are not counted here. Separate a preview decision from a publish decision
Choose who approves the interface, who reviews the code and who owns the hosting account. They may be three different people. A good-looking preview can still hide missing validation or careless handling of sensitive data.
In v0’s deployment workflow, a preview has its own URL, while publishing updates production. For GitHub-backed projects, the publish action can merge a pull request subject to branch protection. Review the target branch and domain as part of the handoff rather than treating Publish as a harmless preview button.
Know whose credits a change consumes
The billing guide distinguishes a member’s monthly allowance from the team’s purchased shared pool. Monthly credits can roll over but expire after 65 days; bought credits need an active paid plan and expire after a year. The legacy Premium plan is no longer available to new users. Compare the offer shown in the actual account before budgeting a team.
Match the plan to seats and data policy
Plus is $30 per user a month and Business is $100 per user a month. Both list $30 of included monthly credits per user, and Business adds data opt-out and business controls. Enterprise is a custom quote. If data policy decides the purchase, that control gap is the difference to weigh, not the credit amount.
Evaluate a quote form without taking orders
Proposed evaluation, not performed: use available Free credits for a preview containing fictional services, no payment provider and no real customer submission endpoint. If the allowance runs out, retain the draft rather than assuming tomorrow’s message limit restores credits.
- Specify three fictional services with explicit prices and a quantity field. Write down the expected total for two sample selections.
- Use the form with a keyboard only. Check labels, visible focus, validation messages and a clear success state.
- Try a negative quantity, an empty value and a non-number. A displayed error is useful only if invalid data is also rejected at the relevant processing boundary.
- Inspect the diff and dependencies. Keep secret values out of browser code and avoid adding analytics or external services during the exercise.
- Record what remains before production: hosting owner, server validation, data retention, domain and rollback route.
A successful exercise produces an inspectable preview and a specific remaining-work list; production readiness is a separate decision.
Is v0 worth it?
Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.
Worth it if
- You want an interface generated and then reviewed as a branch diff and preview before it reaches production.
- Your team needs per-seat credits at $30 per user a month and may later need the data opt-out controls that come with Business.
Probably not if
- You expect the subscription price to cover hosting, databases and external API charges, which are budgeted separately.
- You need a predictable free allowance, because Free is seven messages a day and one-time credits vary by account.

Frequently asked questions
Is v0 free?
Yes, there is a Free plan at $0 with a limit of seven messages per day on the pricing page. The billing guide separately says new users receive $5 once per personal or team account, while existing users keep a $5 monthly allowance, so the credits you see depend on the account. Check your billing page before planning real work.
Do v0 credits cover hosting?
The pricing and billing pages describe generation credits and plans. The deployment guide we read does not state who pays for hosting, so confirm the Vercel account, plan and any database or external API charges separately.
What happens when v0 credits run out?
The billing guide says generation pauses and there are no automatic overage charges; you buy more credits on a paid plan. Purchased credits need an active paid plan and expire one year after purchase, and unused monthly credits roll over but expire after 65 days.
Does Publish in v0 change the live site?
Yes. For GitHub-backed projects, the deployment guide says Publish creates or reuses a pull request, merges it into the base branch and waits for the production deployment. GitHub branch protection still applies, so review the target branch before publishing.
