Start with the missing operation in your project. Runway documents generation from text and image inputs. Descript supports editing a recording through its transcript. Those are useful entry points for comparison, not proof that either product performs only one kind of work.

How can you evaluate a shot and a transcript edit?

For transcript editing, use a recording you are allowed to process. Remove a passage, review the resulting cut and check that the transcript still matches the intended meaning. Compare the final media with the original rather than assuming that editing through text removes every production skill. These are suggested checks, not tasks we have run.
Why must credits and media allowances stay separate?
Runway generation uses credits according to the model and options. Repeating a generation uses more allowance. The Gen-4.5 documentation provides one model-specific example; its rate and output details should not be generalized to every available model.
Descript’s plan comparison separates processed media from AI credits and describes allowances per editor. Count raw inputs rather than only the length of the final cut. Two projects with the same finished runtime can require different source volume or AI operations, so neither a subscription headline nor a single allowance predicts the whole process.

What do resolution and watermark rules actually establish?
Free-generated Runway videos carry a watermark. Descript’s Free video export is watermarked at 720p. These restrictions may matter for a client specification, but they do not justify saying every output is unpublishable. Descript’s audio export has a separate policy; do not apply a video watermark rule to every audio file.
Also distinguish generation from upscaling. The reviewed Gen-4.5 specification lists 720p output, while plan information separately describes 4K upscaling. Some higher-tier output formats have additional costs. Check the actual format required at delivery and inspect the exported file. Publication rights and permissions are separate from resolution and whether a logo is visible.
What should you check about renewal and a file handoff?
Runway Free credits do not expire or renew. Standard and Pro monthly allocations reset, while Max has a limited carry-over policy. That is different from a timed trial. Use the linked profiles for the recorded plan details and source dates, and confirm the current terms before scheduling recurring work.
If your proposed workflow moves media between tools, keep the source files and inspect the receiving project. Check timing, dimensions, audio alignment and the final export rather than assuming the handoff is lossless. We have not tested a direct integration or established support for every file type. How do you reach a decision without a false price winner?
Estimate one representative project and retain the account conditions, usage record and output. Use the profile-generated plan table for price context, then compare the billing commitment, editor count and actual operations required. Exact prices are not repeated here because copied figures can drift away from the profile evidence.
Choose the workflow that meets the recorded requirement within the terms you have confirmed. A two-tool process is justified only if it solves work you actually need; it is not automatically an improvement. Which one will cost less for my project?

Can I combine them in one production?
