- Open every cited source and check whether the linked passage states the claim, noting whether you saw full text or only an abstract.
- Export the source list in a format your reference manager accepts, or note that your plan does not allow it.
- Passes if
- All three claims trace to a passage in an opened source that supports the exact wording, author and date are visible, and the source list leaves the tool on the plan you name.
- Fails if
- A citation points to a page or paper that does not contain the claim, a methods or effect-size claim rests on an abstract alone, or the export needs a plan you did not budget.

What if the cited paper is behind a paywall?
Treat the citation as a lead, not as evidence. Consensus says a cited paper may have been read from its abstract alone when full text is unavailable, and Elicit's paper chat works only on accessible full text. Get the full paper through a library or the author before you quote methods, sample sizes or effect sizes.
Can I keep research files out of model training?
Several business plans state it. Perplexity Enterprise Pro says data is never used for training. ChatGPT Business and Claude Team state no training on business data or content by default, and Elicit Enterprise states no training on your data by default. These statements are tied to those plans, so check your own settings before uploading confidential files.
My notebook needs more than 50 sources. What now?
Gemini Notebook's Standard tier stops at 50 sources per notebook. Split the material into topic notebooks, or move to Google AI Plus at 100 sources or Google AI Pro at 300. Paid tiers are sold only in specific regions, so confirm availability first; Workspace users may already have access through their organization.
Can research run on a schedule?
Perplexity Pro supports up to ten Tasks that deliver alerts or reports by email or push notification. Elicit Research Alerts screen newly published papers against a generated rubric and are listed from Academic Pro. ChatGPT Plus runs scheduled tasks that you review in Scheduled. Check the first few runs before relying on the output.
