How each option fits content repurposing

Each note comes from the tool's source-checked profile. The condition line is what to confirm before you rely on it for this task.

  1. Descript

Descript transcribes a recording and cuts it when you delete transcript text, and its Underlord co-editor can be asked in chat to repurpose a recording.

Check first: Free covers 60 media minutes a month and exports video at 720p with a watermark; full Underlord access is listed from Creator.

  2. Gemini Notebook

Gemini Notebook turns sources you add, including audio, YouTube videos and documents, into Audio Overviews, reports, slide decks and video summaries, with citations back to the source.

Check first: Standard is free with 3 Audio Overviews and 3 Video Overviews a day, and watermark removal is listed from Google AI Pro, with country exceptions.

  3. ChatGPT

Upload a transcript or article and ask ChatGPT for a summary post or newsletter blurb, then refine each output with targeted feedback in the same chat.

Check first: Free allows unlimited basic text chats but limited uploads; expanded uploads come with Plus.

  4. Adobe Podcast

Captions and audiograms turn audio or video into captioned social clips with themes, aspect ratios and speaker labels, and text-based editing cuts the source through its transcript.

Check first: Free caps Enhance Speech at 1 hour a day and Studio downloads at 2 projects a day, and Free audiograms are Podcast-branded.

  5. Canva

Canva AI drafts social posts from a prompt, and the same editor applies brand colors, fonts and logos and exports PNG, PDF, GIF or MP4 for each channel.

Check first: Free includes up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month, and SVG and transparent PNG downloads need a paid plan.

  6. HeyGen

PPT/PDF to Video turns an existing deck into an avatar-led video, and video translation adapts one recording into other languages.

Check first: Free videos are limited to 1 minute and carry a watermark, and video translation is on paid plans.

  7. Copy.ai

Content Agent Studio is trained on three sample inputs to produce a recurring content type, such as a weekly post from each new article, in a consistent brand tone.

Check first: There is no free plan, and audio or video has to be supplied as a transcript or URL.

Considered but not listed

  • Jasper: Jasper rewrites and summarizes in its Canvas, but its bulk Grid pipeline is Business-only, and access starts with a card-required trial.
  • ElevenLabs: ElevenLabs narrates or dubs text and recordings you already have but does not shorten or restructure a source, and Free-generated audio is noncommercial.

Output coverage

Which outputs does it produce: clips, captions, text, audio or video summaries?

Quote fidelity

Can you trace each quote in an output back to its source passage or timestamp?

One fixed task to compare them

Proposed evaluation, not performed: run the same input through two or three shortlisted tools and judge each against the same acceptance line. We have not run it; results depend on your plan and account.

Sample input

A 20-minute recorded interview that you own, with the guest's consent to reuse it in new formats, plus its transcript.

Steps

  1. Import the recording or transcript and mark three passages worth clipping.
  2. Produce three captioned clips of 30 to 60 seconds and a 120-word post.
  3. Ask for a five-point newsletter summary drawn only from the transcript.
  4. Check every quote and figure in the outputs against the transcript and its timestamp.
Passes if
Every quote appears word for word in the transcript, clips start and end on complete sentences, captions match the audio, and no output adds a claim the guest did not make.
Fails if
A paraphrase presented as a quote, an added statistic, a clip cut mid-sentence, or a caption that changes the meaning of what was said.

Questions about ai tools for content repurposing

Do I need permission to repurpose a guest's words or someone else's content?

Check before publishing. A guest who agreed to one interview has not necessarily agreed to clips, translations or avatar versions, so get consent that covers the new formats. A summary of a third-party article or video does not replace permission to reuse it, and HeyGen asks for a consent video before building a Digital Twin from footage.

Which output should I produce first?

Start with the transcript, because every other output is checked against it. Fix speaker names and misheard terms there, cut the clips next, and write text summaries last so they quote the corrected wording. Descript and Adobe Podcast both edit through the transcript, so corrections made early carry into the clips you cut from it.

Can AI audio or video summaries be published as they are?

Treat them as drafts. Gemini Notebook's Audio Overviews are AI-hosted discussions of your sources, so listen for points stated more strongly than the source states them. Confirm whether the plan you used leaves a watermark on the file, and label AI voices or avatars where your platform or audience expects that disclosure.
