Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Free plan with no card The pricing FAQ says you can plan a full book and get a first chapter free, with no credit card required.
- Content stays yours The terms say you keep ownership and commercial rights to what you create, and the privacy policy says your content is not used to train its models or by its AI providers.
- Credit costs are published The terms list per-action credit costs, so you can estimate a book before paying.
- Import an existing draft The features page describes importing a Word .docx into chapters, outline and characters.
Limits
- Pages disagree on credit expiry The pricing FAQ says unused subscription credits expire after a month, while the terms say Pro credits roll over for up to 3 months.
- Audiobooks are credit-heavy At the terms' rate a 2,000-word chapter costs about 880 credits, so a full audiobook can outrun a plan's monthly allowance.
- Refunds are narrow The terms allow a refund only within 7 days of the first subscription purchase and with under 50% of credits used; renewals and one-time credit packs are non-refundable.
- AI output is not guaranteed unique The terms say generated content may be similar across users and you are responsible for reviewing it.
Who it suits
- Self-publishing fiction and non-fiction authors The homepage and features page describe outline, chapters, formatting and a KDP assistant in one workflow.
- Authors with a finished draft The features page describes importing a .docx and editing chapter by chapter with a book editor on Pro.
- Ghostwriters and small publishers Ultra adds bring-your-own OpenRouter keys and 25,000 monthly credits, per the pricing page.
- Not for readers who want a finished book from one click The terms put review, editing and verification of generated content on the user.

Which plan fits?
Smallest plan whose monthly credits cover your number with 15% spare for regenerations. Arithmetic from the plan table above, not a usage test.
How far does it go?
- What a book costs in creditsAt the terms' rates, a 20-chapter book costs about 3 credits for the outline plus 300 for chapters on Gemini (600 on Claude), and 30 for a cover. That is roughly 330 credits on Gemini, so Plus's 1,000 monthly credits cover about three such drafts; on Claude, about one and a half. A narrated 2,000-word chapter costs about 880 credits single-voice, so a 20-chapter audiobook would need about 17,600 credits, more than Pro's 5,000 a month. The terms do not say how many revisions or regenerations a draft needs, and regenerating spends credits again.

| Credits set what each step costs | The terms list 3 credits for a chapter outline, 15 for a full chapter on Gemini (20 on Grok, 30 on Claude), 15 per illustration and 30 per cover. Descriptions and character generation are free. | Draft on the cheaper model and switch to a stronger one only for chapters you plan to keep. |
| Audiobooks use far more credits than text | The terms charge 1 credit per 12.5 characters of narration, plus 20% for multi-voice casting, and put a 2,000-word chapter at roughly 880 credits single-voice. | Narrate one chapter first to see the cost before committing a whole manuscript. |
What does the free plan include?
The pricing page lists 100 credits, the character, outline and writing-style builders, manuscript import and a first chapter, with no credit card required. Its FAQ says you can plan a whole book free and see the quality of one chapter before paying.
How many credits does a book use?
The terms price a full chapter at 15 credits on Gemini, 20 on Grok and 30 on Claude, a cover at 30 and an illustration at 15. A 20-chapter draft on Gemini is therefore a few hundred credits, while a narrated chapter costs about 880, so audiobooks are the main place plans run out.
Who owns the book and what happens to your text?
The terms say you keep ownership and commercial rights, and the privacy policy says your content is not used to train its models and that its AI providers are contractually barred from training on it. The terms also say output may resemble other users’ and must be reviewed by you.
