Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full

Strengths

  • Credits that do not expire Credit packs of $59 for 1,000 and $99 for 2,000 roll over and accumulate, and can be bought without a subscription.
  • Failed generations refunded The FAQ says credits are returned when a generation fails.
  • Private generations on paid plans Starter and Pro list private, unlisted generations and a Make private action.

Limits

  • Monthly prices not visible The pricing page opened on its yearly view, so monthly-billing amounts and the per-generation credit cost could not be read.
  • Broad content licence The FAQ terms give PromptHero a perpetual licence to display, sell and make derivatives from contributions, including on other platforms.
  • Public unless you subscribe Free and credit-pack generations are public, and public prompts and images are kept indefinitely.
  • Commercial rights unclear Free is for personal use only; the pages read do not state commercial rights on Starter, Pro or credit packs.

How much does PromptHero cost?

Prices confirmed · checked

Regional prices: Prices are in USD as shown on the pricing page, which opened on its yearly view with a 15% yearly saving and a two-months-free offer; Starter and Pro are shown as $16 and $24 a month billed yearly ($194 and $296 a year).

Monthly-billing amounts were not readable, so the $16 and $24 monthly figures are yearly-billing equivalents, not a month-to-month charge. The page does not say whether '3,600' and '7,200' total credits cover a month or the year, how many credits an image or video costs, or whether Starter, Pro or credit packs allow commercial use. The pricing page gives Starter a 'private, unlisted' benefit and Pro 'fewer content restrictions'. Tax is not mentioned. The terms say a membership must be cancelled 24 hours before the rebill date.

How far does it go?

  • Cost per credit by routeCredit packs cost $59 for 1,000 credits (the page says $0.059 each) and $99 for 2,000 ($0.049 each). If Starter's 3,600 credits cover the whole $194 yearly payment, that is about $0.054 a credit, and Pro's $296 for 7,200 is about $0.041; if the credits are monthly, the yearly cost per credit is far lower. The page does not say which, nor what one generation costs, so the cost of an image or video cannot be stated. Arithmetic on published figures, not a PromptHero statement.

What do the credits and plans actually cover?

The pricing page sells two things: subscriptions and credit packs. Starter ($16 a month billed yearly, $194 a year) lists 3,600 total generation credits, and Pro ($24 a month billed yearly, $296 a year) lists 7,200. Credit packs cost $59 for 1,000 credits and $99 for 2,000, never expire and can be bought without a subscription. The page does not say whether the subscription credits are a monthly or a yearly amount, and it shows no credit cost per image or video, so how many pictures a plan produces cannot be worked out from it. Monthly-billing prices were not visible on the yearly view that opened.

The FAQ adds that failed generations are refunded and that some models start at promotional credit prices that rise later, so a cost seen today may change.

Who sees what you generate?

On the free plan every creation is public, and credit-pack generations are public too, with stricter content moderation and standard speed. Private, unlisted generations come with Starter and Pro through a Make private action. The privacy policy says public prompts and images are kept indefinitely, while private content stays as long as the account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is removed or anonymised within 30 days, but content that was public may persist in caches or archives.

The terms published in the FAQ go further: contributors grant PromptHero a perpetual licence to display, distribute, sell and make derivatives from what they post, including on other platforms. Anyone who publishes prompts or images there should read that clause first.

Can you reuse the prompts and the images?

The FAQ calls the site crowdsourced and tells users not to rely on the data, and to check that anything they reuse is free of legal charges. The free plan is marked for personal use only. The pages read say nothing about commercial rights on Starter, Pro or credit packs, so confirm with PromptHero support before using output in client or product work.

What happens to your prompts and uploads?

The privacy policy states that text prompts and any input images go to third-party AI model providers, currently Replicate and Together AI, and that input images are deleted within 24 hours. The service is rated 18+ in app stores because it can show mature AI-generated content, and Pro lists fewer content restrictions.

How could you check PromptHero before paying?

Proposed evaluation · not performed yet

Check how public a free generation is and what a prompt page shows, using an invented prompt with no personal details.

  1. Create a free account and open the prompt collection for one model, such as FLUX, without paying.
  2. Generate one image from a harmless invented prompt, for example a paper boat on a pond at dusk.
  3. Open the result while signed out or in a private browser window and note whether it can be found and viewed.
  4. Look for a Make private action on the free account and note whether it is offered.
  5. Note how many generations the free account allows before it stops, and what credit cost is shown for one image.

Accept if the free result is visible to others and the daily limit and credit cost are stated clearly. Reject if the result is hidden from others on a free account or the limits cannot be found. No result is recorded here.

Frequently asked questions

What is PromptHero?

PromptHero describes itself as a place to search millions of AI prompts for models such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Sora, FLUX and Nano Banana. Each prompt card shows the text, the model and the result. The same site also runs a generator, which charges credits and needs a sign-in. The prompts are written by community members, not by PromptHero.

Is PromptHero free?

Partly. A free account gets limited daily generations at lower priority; they are public and for personal use only. The page does not give the daily number. Starter costs $16 a month and Pro $24 a month when billed yearly ($194 and $296 a year), and credit packs start at $59 for 1,000 credits.

Can I keep my PromptHero generations private?

Only with a paid subscription. The FAQ says making a generation private needs an active plan, and Starter and Pro subscribers get a Make private action. Free and credit-pack generations are public, and the privacy policy says public prompts and images are retained indefinitely.

Can I use PromptHero images commercially?

The pages read do not say. The free plan is labelled for personal use only, and neither the pricing page nor the FAQ states commercial rights for Starter, Pro or credit packs. Ask PromptHero support in writing before using generated images in paid client work, and check the terms again then.

Does PromptHero have an app?

The privacy policy describes PromptHero mobile applications for iOS and Android, and says they are rated 18+ because of possible mature AI-generated content. We did not open a store listing, so check the App Store or Google Play for the current version before relying on it. The website works in a browser.

How do I cancel PromptHero or get a refund?

Cancel from Account, then Plans. The terms say to cancel at least 24 hours before the rebill date, and access continues to the end of the paid period. For a refund, the FAQ asks you to contact support and explain your case; it states no fixed refund rule. Unused credits in packs do not expire.

Official pages read on 10 Oct 2026: homepage, plans and pricing page (yearly view), FAQ with the terms of service, and Privacy Policy dated 20 April 2026. The site is behind a bot check, so pages were read through a residential-proxy crawler. We did not create an account or generate anything. The pricing page showed only the yearly view, so monthly-billing prices were not read. The /terms, /about and /api addresses return a not-found page; the terms are published inside the FAQ. The privacy policy gives no company name, and the FAQ names Delaware law and the PromptHero.com and PromptHero.co domains. 'The number one website for prompt engineering' is PromptHero's own claim. Prompts shown on the homepage are user-generated and were not evaluated. Third-party reviews, prices and limits were not used.
