AI song generator that turns a prompt or your own lyrics into a full song with vocals, sold on monthly credits

MakeSong is a web AI song generator: you describe a style or paste up to 5,000 characters of lyrics, and it returns a song you can download as MP3 or WAV. New accounts get a few free songs (the site says 8 in one place and 10 in another). Paid plans are Starter at $7.9 a month billed yearly or $14.9 month to month, Standard at $16.6 or $29.9 and Premium at $39.9 or $59.9. The yearly tab unlocks more features than the monthly one, including the commercial license download, so check which tab you are on.

  • Free plan8 or 10 free songs
  • Paid from$7.9 / month

Free includes: The sign-in prompt says 8 and the homepage and Lyric to Song page say 10; which applies was not confirmed. The Beat Maker FAQ says free three times a day.

Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full

Strengths

  • Lyrics up to 5,000 characters You can bring finished lyrics instead of only a style prompt, and the Lyric to Song page says songs can reach 8 minutes.
  • Editing tools on paid plans Extend & Cover Song, Replace Section and Vocal Remover are listed from yearly Starter upward.
  • Free songs to start New accounts get a few free songs per the site, so you can hear output before paying.
  • Named operator The Terms name CODEONE LTD with a London address and a support email.

Limits

  • Free allowance is stated two ways The sign-in prompt says 8 free songs and the homepage says 10, so the real number is unclear.
  • Monthly Starter is stripped down It lacks image generation, uploads, vocal remover, extend/cover, replace section and the commercial license download.
  • Commercial rights wording differs The FAQ says you own the track with no royalties; the Terms say the license depends on the subscription tier and list restrictions on commercial usage.
  • Song counts do not match credits 200, 700 and 3,000 songs a month do not follow from 150, 1,000 and 4,000 credits at 3 credits per generation.
  • Generated content may be reused The Terms let MakeSong use anonymized generated content for service improvement.
  • Refund terms not found The Terms point to a refund policy that was not found; cancellation is by email, WhatsApp or the My Orders page.
  • Underlying models unnamed The V6, V5.5 and V5 model names are not tied to any named provider on the pages read.

Who it suits

  • Creators who need background music Royalty-free songs for videos, podcasts or games, with MP3 or WAV download.
  • People with lyrics but no band Paste lyrics and get a vocal demo; check the commercial license before releasing it.
  • Not for buyers who need unambiguous commercial terms on a monthly plan The license download is a yearly-only feature and the Terms tie rights to the tier.

The page opens on the Yearly tab, where the $7.9, $16.6 and $39.9 figures are monthly equivalents of $94.80, $199.20 and $478.80 a year taken from the page's pricing data; checkout was not opened. The Monthly tab shows $14.9, $29.9 and $59.9. The '50% OFF' and '40% OFF' badges do not match the displayed prices, which are about 47%, 45% and 33% lower. Feature lists differ by tab, so yearly plans include tools the monthly ones do not. Song counts per month on the page do not follow from the credit figures. The Terms say subscriptions renew until canceled and that refunds are limited; the refund policy was not found.

Which plan fits?

Smallest plan whose monthly credits cover your number with 15% spare for regenerations. Arithmetic from the plan table above, not a usage test.

How far does it go?

  • One song per generation, 3 credits eachThe homepage shows 'Generating once costs 3 credits', so Starter's 150 credits cover 50 generations, Standard's 1,000 cover 333 and Premium's 4,000 cover 1,333. On yearly billing that is about $0.16, $0.05 and $0.03 per generation; Starter month to month is about $0.30. The pages' own '200, 700 and 3,000 songs a month' would be cheaper per song, but they do not follow from the credit figures. Arithmetic on published amounts, not a statement by MakeSong, and other tools may cost more credits.

Key features

FeatureWhat it doesWatch out
Text to song and lyrics to song: a style prompt or up to 5,000 characters of lyrics, with songs up to 8 minutes (Lyric to Song page)You paste lyrics of up to 5,000 characters, optionally tag sections such as [chorus], choose genre and voice, and the page says songs can run up to 8 minutes with a coherent structure. The pages do not show a sample next to its prompt, so how closely the vocals follow your lyrics was not observed.
Style, mood, voice and tempo pickers plus an instrumental option on the generator (homepage)—
MP3 and WAV download on every plan (pricing page)—
Vocal Remover, Extend & Cover Song, Replace Section and uploading your own song on the plans that include them (pricing page)Extend & Cover Song, Replace Section and Vocal Remover are listed on the plans that include them, so a song can be changed without starting over.On the Monthly tab Starter has none of these three, so the cheapest month-to-month plan is generate-and-download only.
AI Music Video, Singing Video and Image generators on Standard and Premium, and on the yearly Starter only for images (pricing page)—
Beat Maker, stem splitter and lyric video tools linked from the footer, with a stated free allowance for the Beat Maker (AI Beat Maker page)—
Billing decides the featuresThe same plan name carries different features by billing: yearly Starter adds image generation, uploads, editing tools, the commercial license download and 365-day storage that monthly Starter does not list.If you want those tools you are choosing a yearly commitment, not only a lower price.
CreditsGenerating once costs 3 credits at the homepage default, and each plan has a monthly credit allowance of 150, 1,000 or 4,000.The pages give song counts per month (200, 700, 3,000) that do not follow from those credit figures, so treat the credit meter as the limit.

Is MakeSong free to try?

Briefly, and the site is inconsistent about how briefly. The sign-in prompt on the homepage says new users can make 8 free songs, while the hero text and the Lyric to Song page say each free account makes 10. Separately, the Beat Maker FAQ says beats are free three times a day. Check the prompt after signing up to see which figure applies.

Which tab are you buying from?

The pricing page opens on the Yearly tab: Starter $7.9, Standard $16.6 and Premium $39.9 a month, which the page data prices at $94.80, $199.20 and $478.80 a year. The Monthly tab shows $14.9, $29.9 and $59.9. The tabs also differ in features: monthly Starter has no image generator, no upload, no vocal remover, no extend or cover, no replace section and no commercial license download, and 30-day storage. If you need editing tools, the cheapest way in is the yearly tab, which is a twelve-month commitment.

Can you use the songs commercially?

The pricing FAQ says all music is royalty-free, commercially usable and yours once generated. The Terms and Conditions are narrower: the license is for personal or commercial use based on your subscription tier, and commercial usage is among the listed restrictions. The Download Commercial License item appears only on yearly plans (and not on monthly Premium or Standard), so if a release or client work depends on it, buy the plan that lists it and keep the file. MakeSong also keeps the right to use anonymized generated content to improve the service.

How far do the credits go?

At the homepage default of 3 credits per generation, Starter’s 150 credits are 50 generations and Standard’s 1,000 are about 333. The page’s own ‘200 songs’ and ‘700 songs’ per month do not follow from those figures, so plan on the credit meter and watch the balance on your first few songs. Video and image tools use credits too, at costs the pages do not state.

How could you check MakeSong before paying?

Proposed evaluation · not performed yet

Spend the free songs on lyrics you already know how to judge.

  1. Sign up and note whether the prompt says 8 or 10 free songs.
  2. Paste a short set of your own lyrics, tag a [chorus], and generate once; record the credits used.
  3. Download the MP3 and listen for whether the vocal follows the lyrics and the chorus repeats where tagged.
  4. Look for the commercial license wording on the account before deciding between the monthly and yearly tab.

Accept if the sung lyrics match yours and the credits per usable take fit a plan with retries. Reject if most takes need several regenerations or the license you need is not on the plan you can afford. No result is recorded here.

Frequently asked questions

Does MakeSong have a free plan?

Not a plan, but a small allowance: the sign-in prompt says 8 free songs for new users and the homepage says each free account makes 10. The Beat Maker page says beats are free three times a day. The paid plans start at $7.9 a month billed yearly.

How much does MakeSong cost?

On the Yearly tab Starter is $7.9 a month, Standard $16.6 and Premium $39.9; the Monthly tab shows $14.9, $29.9 and $59.9. The page data lists yearly amounts of $94.80, $199.20 and $478.80, and checkout was not opened.

Is monthly MakeSong the same as yearly?

No. The Monthly tab lists fewer features: Starter has no image generator, upload, vocal remover, extend and cover, replace section or commercial license download, and keeps songs for 30 days instead of 365.

Can I use MakeSong songs commercially?

The FAQ says the music is royalty-free and yours, but the Terms say the license for personal or commercial use depends on your subscription tier. The commercial license download is listed on yearly plans, so confirm it on the plan you buy before client or release work.

How many songs can I make a month?

The page says 200 on Starter, 700 on Standard and 3,000 on Premium, but at 3 credits per generation the credits (150, 1,000, 4,000) cover about 50, 333 and 1,333. The two figures do not agree, so rely on the credit balance.

Who runs MakeSong?

The Terms name CODEONE LTD, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, governed by United Kingdom law, with support at support@makesong.com. The pages do not say which AI models sit behind the V6, V5.5 and V5 names.
