Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Unlimited free previews You can hear a master against your original before deciding to pay.
- One plan covers several tools Mastering, distribution, stem separation, two plug-ins and link pages share one subscription.
- Refund window for first purchases Terms allow a refund request within 14 days if few masters were downloaded.
Limits
- No single-song purchase The help center says downloads are sold only through subscriptions.
- Releases are taken down after you stop paying Terms say takedown requests follow a grace period of at least 30 days after the subscription ends.
- Broad licence over distributed recordings The licence you grant includes training eMastered AI models, alongside distribution rights.
Who it suits
- Independent artists releasing singles fits when you also want distribution, since both come in the same plan.
- Producers checking demo masters free previews let you compare versions before paying for a download.
- Occasional users with one track a poor fit, because there is no pay-per-song option; one month-to-month plan is the smallest purchase.
- Labels with large catalogues the 20-recordings-per-30-days distribution cap and single artist profile need an enterprise arrangement.
How much does eMastered cost?
Prices confirmed · checked
- $19Yearly (billed monthly)
- $39Monthly
Regional prices: These are the US-dollar amounts the pricing page showed to a US connection.
From a server in Germany the same page showed euros excluding VAT: €108 a year upfront, €19 a month on a one-year term and €29 month to month, so prices differ by region and are not converted. The terms say subscriptions renew automatically and must be cancelled at least one day before renewal. A separate distribution-only plan is billed yearly; its price was not on the mastering pricing page.

Can you master a track on eMastered for free?
Yes, up to the point of downloading. The pricing page invites you to master and preview unlimited tracks for free and pay only when you are ready to download. The homepage describes the flow: upload an MP3, AIFF or WAV file, let the engine analyze and master it, then compare the master with your original in the browser.
The free account does not include the file. The help center says eMastered is a subscription service and does not sell individual file downloads, so even one finished song requires a plan. Use the free preview to decide whether the engine suits your mix, then subscribe only when you have tracks ready to release.
Which billing option costs least over a year?
All three paid options include the same tools; the help center says the only difference is how you are billed. On the US view of the pricing page, the yearly plan costs $180 paid upfront, the monthly-billed yearly plan $19 a month with a one-year commitment, and the month-to-month plan $39. Visitors elsewhere can see other amounts and currencies, so confirm the price at checkout.
The monthly-billed yearly plan is the one to question. It locks you in for a year like the upfront plan but costs $48 more over twelve months. It only makes sense if paying $180 at once is not possible. If you need a single release, one month at $39 is the smallest purchase, as long as you cancel at least one day before renewal.
What happens to your releases if you stop paying?
Distribution is tied to the subscription. The terms define a distribution period that lasts while you subscribe plus a grace period of no less than 30 days. Before that period ends, eMastered submits takedown requests to remove your recordings from all streaming platforms.
Cancelling therefore affects more than mastering. If you released music through eMastered, move those releases to another distributor before the grace period ends, and download any masters you still need while the plan is active. The terms also allow the company to delete account content after an account is removed, without being responsible for keeping it.
How strict is the 14-day refund?
The terms offer a refund only on your first subscription purchase. Within 14 days you must both cancel in your account settings and email support asking for the refund. It is lost once you have created or downloaded more than four Mastered Recordings.
The pricing page words the limit as fewer than 4 downloaded tracks, one fewer than the terms allow. To stay eligible under both texts, download no more than three masters while you decide. A later renewal is not a first purchase, so it does not reopen the refund window.
What does unlimited distribution actually allow?
Distribution carries an asterisk on every plan. The fair usage policy limits an account to one artist profile and 20 new recordings in any rolling 30-day period, with further submissions blocked automatically until the window resets. Catalogue imports need separate approval.
The same policy bans distributing content you do not own or have not licensed, including covers, remixes, samples and stems, and it bans low-effort or AI-generated spam. Violations can lead to takedowns and termination without refund, and eMastered may ask for identity or licence documents at any time.
- One artist profile per account.
- Up to 20 new recordings per rolling 30 days.
- Covers and remixes need the proper licence before release.
What rights do you give eMastered over your recordings?
By uploading, you confirm you hold all rights needed to submit, reproduce and distribute the recordings. For distribution and use on eMastered’s sites, section 6.1 of the terms grants the company a worldwide, perpetual, sub-licensable licence that also covers training or improving its AI and machine learning models.
The privacy policy adds that uploaded media types are analyzed to understand user needs, and that you can request deletion of personal data by email. If a label or co-writer must approve AI training on a recording, clear it before you distribute through eMastered.
Can the free preview tell you whether to pay?
Proposed evaluation · not performed yet
Take a finished mix you own with at least 3 dB of headroom and a commercial reference song in the same genre. On a free account, master the mix with default settings. Reference mastering is listed with the paid plans, so treat it as a separate paid step.
- Record the date, browser and account type.
- Play the original and the master at matched listening volume.
- Listen for pumping, harsh top end and lost low end in the loudest section.
- Note whether you would release the preview as it is or would need the paid mastering options.
- Only then choose between one month and a yearly plan, based on how many tracks you will release in the next year.
Accept the service if the default master is ready to release without audible distortion. Reject it if the preview distorts the loudest section or changes the balance you mixed. No listening result is reported until the comparison is done.
For levelling and cleaning spoken audio rather than mastering music, compare Auphonic and Adobe Podcast.
Is eMastered worth it?
Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.
Worth it if
- You want distribution, stem separation and plug-ins bundled with mastering, because all three paid options include them under one subscription.
- You are unsure about the engine, since unlimited free previews let you compare the master with your original before paying.
- You can pay $180 upfront, which is $48 less over twelve months than the $19 monthly option with the same one-year term.
Probably not if
- You need one finished song, because downloads are sold only by subscription and the smallest purchase is a month at $39.
- You must keep releases live after cancelling, since takedown requests follow a grace period of at least 30 days once the subscription ends.
- A label or co-writer has to approve AI training on a recording, because the licence you grant includes training eMastered models.

Frequently asked questions
Why does eMastered show different prices outside the US?
The site picks the currency from where you are browsing, and its help center says plans and features may vary by region. A server in Germany saw €108 a year, €19 a month on a one-year term and €29 month to month, excluding VAT, which is a different price list rather than a conversion. Check the checkout page from your own location.
Is a free trial of the paid plan available?
The pricing page does not advertise one. The terms say that if a trial is offered, it lasts for the period in your confirmation email, or 7 days if none is given, and converts to a paid plan unless cancelled. Content tied to a trial account that is not upgraded may be removed.
Are the ATOM and PitchPro plug-ins included in every plan?
Yes. All three paid options list the ATOM synthesizer and PitchPro vocal tuning as VST, AU and AAX plug-ins, so they run inside a digital audio workstation. The ATOM plug-in is covered by a separate end-user licence agreement linked from the terms, so read it before using the synthesizer on commercial work.
Does stem separation with Stemify cost extra?
No. The pricing page lists unlimited stem separation with Stemify in all three paid plans, alongside mastering and distribution. The terms treat Stemify and the vocal remover as part of the mastering service, so the same upload rules apply: you must hold the rights needed to process the recordings you split.
How do I cancel an eMastered subscription?
Log in, open My Account, choose the Plan tab, then Manage Plan, Change Plan and Cancel Plan, and follow the prompts to submit. A confirmation page shows the date access ends. The terms require cancelling at least one day before renewal, and you keep the paid plan until the current billing period ends.

Dollar prices come from the pricing page as served to a US connection; euro prices come from the same page served to a server in Germany, where they excluded VAT. The terms state that currency references are in US dollars unless noted. Older help articles quote a $156 yearly plan and say downloads are sold only by subscription; the dollar figure is outdated and not used. The pricing page limits refunds to users who downloaded fewer than 4 tracks, while the terms say not more than four Mastered Recordings. The terms do not describe ending the one-year commitment of the monthly-billed yearly plan early.
