Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Free way to try The Free Studio plan gives 200 credits, MP3 export and files up to 10 minutes, and API sign-up gives 10 credits.
- Broad separation range Music stems, dialogue, music and effects, speakers, speech cleanup and lyric timing sit behind one upload in Studio and one API.
- Plain credit rates The models page lists credits per minute for every model, so a job can be priced before it runs.
Limits
- Free export is MP3 only WAV and FLAC export is listed from Starter at $20 a month, and Free files stop at 10 minutes.
- API dollar price unclear The pages read show credit rates and a dashboard for buying credits but no price per credit, and do not say how Studio credits map to API rates.
- Speech transcription is out of scope The provider says it transcribes lyrics only; multi-speaker separation costs 10.0 credits a minute and caps input at 1.5 hours.
Who it suits
- Producers and mixers Starter is the first plan with WAV and FLAC export, which matters for mastering and remix work.
- Video and podcast editors dialogue and music-and-effects separation is the task to test first, at 1.5 credits a minute.
- Developers and localization teams the per-target credit model suits pipelines, but get the dollar price per credit before budgeting.
- Anyone working with other people's recordings separation does not grant rights in the source, so confirm licensing before publishing stems.
How much does AudioShake cost?
Some prices not published · checked
- $20AudioShake Studio Starter
- $40AudioShake Studio Pro
Regional prices: Studio plans are shown at $0 (Free), $20 a month (Starter) and $40 a month (Pro), billed monthly; the page says yearly billing is available in Studio but shows no yearly price.
Enterprise is custom. The API is billed in credits bought in the dashboard: new accounts get 10 credits, charges are per minute of source audio per target model rounded up to the next minute, and the pages read give no dollar price per credit. Per-minute rates run from 1.0 credit for stem models to 10.0 for multi-speaker separation and music removal. The pages do not say how Studio credits map to these API rates, so the two are not compared here.

How far does it go?
- What the API credits coverNew API accounts get 10 credits. At 1.0 credit per minute per target, that is 10 minutes of a single stem. A 4-minute song split into vocals and instrumental costs 8 credits (4 min x 2 targets x 1.0), so 10 credits cover one such song with 2 left. The multi-speaker model costs 10.0 credits per minute, so 10 credits cover 1 minute. Arithmetic from the listed rates; Studio credit rates are not stated on the pages read.

Key features
| Feature | What it does | Watch out |
|---|---|---|
| Splits music into vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, keys, strings and wind stems | — | |
| Separates a finished mix into dialogue, music and effects | Post-production models return dialogue, an effects bed or a music-and-effects bed at 1.5 credits a minute, for dubbing and cleaner captions. | The provider's customer-reported transcription gains are marketing figures and were not tested by us. |
| Multi-speaker separation with one labelled track per speaker | — | |
| Speech denoise and de-reverb for noisy recordings | — | |
| Lyric transcription and word-level alignment | — | |
| Studio in the browser, REST API and on-device SDK | — | |
| WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AIFF output, files up to 2 GB | — | |
| Credit pricing per target | API credits are charged per minute of source audio for each model you request, rounded up to the next minute, so asking for four stems costs four times one stem. | Dollar price per API credit was not found in the pages we read, so total cost cannot be worked out from them. |
| Lyrics, not speech transcripts | Transcription and alignment are built for songs and give line- and word-level timing, with a 45-minute input limit. | The provider says it does not transcribe speech; use a separate captioning tool after separating the dialogue. |
Should you use AudioShake Studio, the API or neither?
AudioShake takes audio that already exists and pulls it apart: a song into vocals, drums, bass and other stems, a finished film or podcast mix into dialogue, music and effects, or a conversation into one track per speaker. It does not create new music. The choice is mostly about how you will run it. Studio is the browser workspace and is the sensible place to try a few files. The API suits a pipeline, but its price is set in credits per minute per model, and the pages we read do not give a dollar price per credit.
Free Studio gives 200 credits, MP3 export and files up to 10 minutes. WAV and FLAC export appear from Starter at $20 a month, so a producer who needs lossless stems should plan for that tier. Editorial assessment: use Free to judge separation quality on one or two of your own tracks before paying, and ask the provider for the API credit price before any batch job.
What does a job cost in API credits?
Credits are charged per minute of source audio, for every model you request on that file, and each file’s length is rounded up to the next minute. The table applies the published rates to a few jobs; the credit counts are arithmetic from the models page, not a quote in dollars.
| Job | Models requested | Credits per minute, per model | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vocals and instrumental from a song | vocals, instrumental | 1.0 each | 4-minute song: 8 credits |
| Dialogue and music-and-effects for dubbing | dialogue, music_fx | 1.5 each | 10-minute podcast: 30 credits |
| One track per speaker | multi_voice | 10.0 | 10-minute recording: 100 credits |
| Remove noise from speech | speech_denoise | 1.5 | 10-minute interview: 15 credits |
The 10 credits given at API sign-up therefore cover roughly one 10-minute stem job, or one minute of multi-speaker separation. Failed tasks that stop before processing starts are not charged, according to the API FAQ. The pages do not explain how Studio’s monthly credits map to these API rates, so do not assume the same numbers apply.
What should you check before separating audio you did not record?
Separating a recording does not change who owns it. If you plan to release a remix, an instrumental or a clean dialogue track made from someone else’s audio, settle the licence for the source first. On the provider’s side, its terms, effective October 1, 2026, say customers keep their rights in their content and that AudioShake will not use that content to train AI models that generate new music. Those terms are written as a services agreement with order forms, so confirm with the provider that they cover a self-serve Studio account.
Also plan for short retention on the API: uploaded assets expire after 72 hours and download links after one hour, so save results as soon as a task finishes. Limits to know before you queue work: files up to 2 GB, multi-speaker input up to 1.5 hours, lyric work up to 45 minutes, and 60 API requests per second.
How do you test it on your own audio?
Proposed evaluation · not performed yet
Pick one track or clip you have the right to process and run it on the Free Studio plan.
- Separate it into the stems you actually need, and listen to each one against the original for bleed, missing parts and artefacts.
- For video work, split a clip with dialogue and music and check whether the dialogue stem is clean enough to send to your captioning tool.
- Note the file length limit and export format you hit on Free, and decide whether WAV or FLAC export or longer files would justify Starter.
- If you plan to use the API, ask the provider for the dollar price per credit and price your own monthly minutes before building on it.
Leave the observed results blank until the run is done. Move to a paid plan only if the stems are usable for your task and you need the export or the credits.
Is AudioShake worth it?
Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.
Worth it if
- You need to hear how well your own tracks separate before paying, because the Free Studio plan lets you try 200 credits on files up to 10 minutes.
- You make remixes or masters and need lossless stems, since WAV and FLAC export is listed from the $20 Starter plan.
- You build a pipeline and can price jobs from the listed credits per minute per target, then get the credit price from the provider.
Probably not if
- You need a fixed dollar budget for API work today, because the pages we read list credit rates but no price per credit.
- You want speech transcripts or captions, because lyric transcription is the only transcription the provider describes.
- You plan to publish stems of other people's recordings without clearance, since separating audio does not give you rights in it.

Frequently asked questions
How much does AudioShake cost?
Studio has a Free plan at $0, Starter at $20 a month and Pro at $40 a month, with prices shown billed monthly. Enterprise is custom. The API is billed in credits per minute per model, but the pages we read do not list a dollar price per credit, so ask the provider for it.
Is AudioShake free to use?
There is a Free Studio plan with 200 credits to start, MP3 export and files up to 10 minutes. New API accounts also get 10 credits. WAV and FLAC export and files up to 2 hours are listed from Starter.
What file formats does AudioShake support?
Studio and the API accept WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC, MP4 and MOV up to 2 GB; Studio also lists M4A. The API returns wav, mp3, flac and aiff audio, plus json, srt and txt for text. Free Studio exports MP3 only.
How accurate is AudioShake?
We did not measure it. The provider says its models topped Sony's Demixing Challenge and reports customer-measured transcription accuracy gains of 25% or more after dialogue separation, but those are its own statements. Judge quality by separating one of your own tracks on the Free plan and listening for bleed between stems.
Does AudioShake transcribe speech?
No. The provider says its transcription covers song lyrics only, with line and word timing. For speech it separates the dialogue so another captioning or transcription tool can work from a cleaner track.
Does AudioShake have an API?
Yes. The REST API runs separation, post-production, speech and lyric models as tasks, with polling or webhooks, and the provider also lists an on-device SDK for iOS, macOS, Android, Windows and Linux.
