Choose Wixel if

You are a new small business that wants to try several AI logo directions before paying, because the Free plan's monthly credits cover a few rounds and downloads cost no credits.

Skip it if

You already paid for a logo in the older Wix Logo Maker and expect it in Wixel, because those files stay in Brand Studio under a separate plan.

Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full

Strengths

  • Downloads cost nothing The help center says PNG, JPG and SVG logo downloads use no AI credits and can be repeated.
  • Manual edits are free Only AI actions draw on credits; changing text, color, font or layout by hand does not.
  • One balance beyond logos The same credits cover images, videos, docs and slides built around the logo.

Limits

  • Designs may not be unique The Wix terms warn that AI output can be identical or similar to what other users generate.
  • Two logo products, two bills Legacy Logo Maker plans and Wixel plans are managed and paid for separately.
  • Credits expire each cycle Unused plan credits do not roll over, and only Max can buy top-ups.

Who it suits

  • New small businesses the free credits cover several rounds of logo ideas, and SVG downloads cost nothing.
  • Existing Wix Logo Maker customers a logo already bought in the older tool stays there; starting again in Wixel creates a new file under a separate plan.
  • Teams producing matching brand assets brand themes suit carrying one logo across posts, videos and documents.
  • Brands planning a trademark filing treat any AI or template design as a draft and have its registrability checked before filing.

Regional prices: Prices are in USD as served on the pricing page, before tax; the final price is shown at checkout.

The page lists yearly prices only; the billing FAQ says monthly billing is offered, but no USD monthly price appeared in our capture, so none is given or derived. A full refund applies only when a plan is cancelled within 14 days of the first upgrade from Free; renewals, later upgrades and top-ups are excluded, and cancelling removes the plan credits.

Which plan fits?

Smallest plan whose monthly credits cover your number with 15% spare for regenerations. Arithmetic from the plan table above, not a usage test.

How far does it go?

  • Credits per logo implied by provider estimatesFree: 120 credits ÷ up to 20 logos = about 6 credits per logo generation. Basic: 350 ÷ 50 = 7. Pro: 850 ÷ 180 = about 4.7. Max: 2,000 ÷ 440 = about 4.5. On Free, the 30-credit daily cap ÷ 6 = about 5 generations a day, which matches the help center figure of 5 logos. These are published estimates, not observed usage.

What changed when the Wix Logo Maker became Wixel?

The logo maker page on wix.com now opens the Wixel Logo Maker, part of an AI design platform that also makes images, videos, documents and slides. The help center says the older Wix Logo Maker is still available, with limited AI support, and recommends Wixel for new logos.

The two tools do not share purchases or files. Logos created in the old Logo Maker have not moved to Wixel and remain in Brand Studio, and Logo Maker plans are managed separately from Wixel plans. In the old tool you bought a plan for each logo to unlock high-quality files and Brand Kit assets; in Wixel you pay for AI credits instead.

What can you do on the Free plan before paying?

Free includes 120 AI credits a month, with no more than 30 used in a single day. Credits are spent only on AI actions: generating a logo, editing it through the agent, or creating images, videos, docs and slides. When the agent returns four logo options, the help center counts that as one generation and deducts credits once, whether or not you keep any of them.

Manual changes to text, fonts, colors, icons and layout do not use credits, and neither does downloading. The logo maker page and help center say a finished logo downloads as PNG, JPG or SVG as many times as needed. A practical free workflow is a few AI rounds to find a direction, followed by manual refinement.

How many logo attempts does each credit pool allow?

The pricing card converts credits into estimated outputs that assume the whole balance goes to one item type: up to 20 logos on Free, 50 on Basic, 180 on Pro and 440 on Max. The help center lists only 5 logos for Free, which is what the 30-credit daily cap allows in one day rather than across a month.

Wix says the credit cost of an action depends on its complexity and the tool used, is calculated only after the action runs and can change at any time. Plan credits reset every month and do not roll over. Only Max can buy top-up credits, which are spent after the monthly plan credits run out.

Which files do you get, and where do they go?

Download settings let you choose the file type, a small, medium or large size and a transparent background. Keep the SVG for print and signage, where the logo has to scale, and use a transparent PNG for websites and social profiles. If the file is going to a designer or printer, the guide on preparing AI vector artwork for an editable handoff covers what to check in an SVG first.

  • Wixel logo: PNG with or without background, JPG or SVG, downloaded without using credits.
  • Older Wix Logo Maker: the files depend on the logo plan bought, from high-resolution PNG to vector files and Brand Kit assets.
  • Wix website: a Wixel logo does not sync to the site or its Business Info, so upload the downloaded file to the Media Manager.

Can you own and register a logo made with Wixel?

The Wix terms say Wix claims no ownership of AI output, except for any pre-existing Wix intellectual property it contains. They also warn that output may not be unique, because other users can generate identical or similar results. Using the AI features grants Wix a license to use inputs and outputs to train its tools and to pass them to third-party providers.

The additional terms for the older Logo Maker go further: icons, fonts and other logo elements are non-exclusive, Wix gives no warranty that a logo can be registered as a trademark, and buyers agree not to challenge similar logos made by other users. For a mark you intend to register, have the final design checked by a trademark attorney first.

What does a paid plan commit you to?

The pricing page lists paid plans billed yearly: Basic at $90, Pro at $290 and Max at $590 a year before tax, and the billing FAQ says monthly billing is also available. A full refund is possible only when you cancel within 14 days of the first upgrade from Free. It does not cover renewals, later upgrades or top-up purchases.

Cancelling removes every credit from the plan and returns the account to the Free allowance. Yearly Pro and Max include a voucher for a one-year Wix Light website plan and a free domain, valid for 60 days after the Wixel purchase and only on a first purchase. If you do not need a Wix site, the voucher adds nothing to the logo decision.

Can the Free plan deliver a usable SVG logo for a new business?

Proposed evaluation · not performed yet

On a Free account, create a logo for a fictional business called Harbor Lane Bakery from a one-line description. Note the credit balance before starting and use AI only for the first round of ideas.

  1. Generate one set of AI logo options and record the credits deducted.
  2. Pick one option and make every further change by hand: text, color and icon.
  3. Download an SVG and a transparent PNG, then open both outside Wixel.
  4. Check the SVG in a vector editor at business-card and poster sizes.
  5. Record the total credits used and whether any step asked for a paid plan.

Accept a true vector SVG that scales cleanly, a PNG with a transparent background and no paywall at download. Reject a raster image wrapped in an SVG file, a watermark or a credit charge for manual edits. No result is reported until the exercise is run.

For a broader design suite with its own free tier, compare Canva. If the business still needs a name, Namelix suggests names before any logo work. For AI imagery from Adobe, see Adobe Firefly.

Is Wixel worth it?

Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.

Worth it if

  • You are a new small business that wants to try several AI logo directions before paying, because the Free plan's monthly credits cover a few rounds and downloads cost no credits.
  • You plan to refine one chosen design by hand, since manual edits and file exports do not draw on the credit balance.
  • You want the same logo carried into social posts, videos or documents, because those draw on the same credit pool.

Probably not if

  • You already paid for a logo in the older Wix Logo Maker and expect it in Wixel, because those files stay in Brand Studio under a separate plan.
  • You need a design that is guaranteed to be unique, since the Wix terms say other users can receive identical or similar AI output.
  • You expect refunds on credits spent on unusable results, because the help center does not return credits for disappointing output.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find logos I made with the old Wix Logo Maker?

They stay in Brand Studio and were not copied into Wixel. You can open the older tool from your Wix site dashboard or its standalone page, or from Wixel by clicking your profile picture and choosing Wix Logo Maker. Files already unlocked with a logo plan remain tied to that product.

Will a Wixel logo appear on my Wix website automatically?

No. The help center says logos made in Wixel do not sync with the Wix Logo Maker or with the Business Info of a site. Download the file from Wixel, upload it to the Media Manager or Business Info of the site, and then place it on pages like any other image.

Can I buy extra credits without moving to a higher plan?

Only on Max. Max subscribers can buy top-ups of 500 credits for $25; they are spent after the monthly plan credits and stay valid for two years from purchase. On Free, Basic and Pro the only way to get more credits is to upgrade, and top-ups are excluded from the 14-day refund.

Do I need a Wix account to use Wixel?

Yes. The pricing FAQ says Wixel is built by Wix and requires a Wix account, and the legal terms name Wix.com Ltd. and its affiliates as the contracting party. Payment is by major credit or debit card, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB and Diners, with other options in some locations.

Can I get credits back if the AI logos are not usable?

No. The help center says credits spent on a request are not returned when the result misses your expectations; contact Wix only if you believe credits were deducted by mistake. To save credits, write a specific brief with colors and style, and switch to manual edits once one design is close.

The wix.com logo maker page now presents the Wixel Logo Maker, while the older Wix Logo Maker remains available to past users with its own plans and additional terms. The pricing page HTML served USD yearly prices; a render from our server in Germany showed euro prices including VAT (€108, €345 and €703 a year, or €11, €35 and €71 a month), which are not converted here. The pricing FAQ says free credits renew weekly, while the pricing card and help center describe a 30-credit daily cap within 120 credits a month; the help center is followed. The pricing card estimates up to 20 free logos and the help center up to 5. The update banner on the general terms page shows unfilled placeholder text, so no effective date is quoted from it.
