Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Inference stays in the EU The terms say AI runs on Ajelix-owned servers in the EU and content is not sent to external AI providers in normal operation.
- No surprise overage bills When the included usage is used up, processing stops; overage is not charged automatically.
- Files become working spreadsheets Agent mode returns Excel files with formulas, charts and pivot tables rather than only text answers.
- Named operator and published terms The terms give the company name, registration number and registered office in Latvia.
Limits
- Usage is not quantified No plan states how many messages, tasks or files its allowance covers.
- Small file cap on Lite Lite accepts files up to 20 MB; a 100 MB file needs Pro and 500 MB needs Max.
- Free access is unclear The terms describe a 7-day trial, while the pricing FAQ still mentions 10 free requests a month.
- Refunds are narrow for businesses Business customers get a refund only if the service was not used.
- Public Sheets links only in chat The chat agent reads or updates Google Sheets by public link; private files need the add-on.
Who it suits
- Finance and operations staff building models in Excel Agent mode can draft a workbook with projections, formulas and charts from a brief.
- Teams with an EU data residency requirement The terms place all platform data and AI inference on EU/EEA servers.
- Google Workspace users One add-on works across Sheets, Docs, Slides and Forms.
- Not for occasional single formulas paying $39 a month for a formula now and then is a lot when the allowance is not quantified.
- Not for files above 500 MB The largest self-service plan caps uploads at 500 MB.
How much does Ajelix cost?
Prices confirmed · checked
Regional prices: Prices are per seat and exclude VAT or sales tax; Latvian VAT applies to EU consumers and reverse charge to EU businesses.
The yearly figures are monthly equivalents; the yearly charge is not printed on the page. New accounts start with a 7-day free trial. Payment runs through Stripe cards or Swedbank bank references. Unused usage does not roll over, and price changes come with at least 30 days' notice before renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid term. Schools, universities and non-profits can ask support for a special plan.

How far does it go?
- Three analysts sharing a 60 MB monthly CSV exportLite caps files at 20 MB, so each export would have to be split into at least three files; Pro accepts up to 100 MB. Billed monthly, Pro costs 3 x $99 = $297 a month and Lite 3 x $39 = $117, a difference of $180. On yearly billing the monthly equivalents are 3 x $82 = $246 and 3 x $32 = $96. Ajelix publishes no task count for either allowance, so the number of analyses per month is not known. Arithmetic on published prices and limits, not a statement by Ajelix.

What does Ajelix do with a spreadsheet today?
Ajelix started as a set of Excel formula and template tools. Its release notes describe version 3.0.0, from February 2026, as the move to an AI agent that plans and runs multi-step tasks in one conversation. The Agent vs Chat guide lists what that covers for data: analyze a CSV or Excel file, then create charts, formulas, pivot tables and dashboards, and run Python in a sandbox to clean the data.
The difference between the two modes matters for spreadsheet work. Chat mode answers instantly and shows code without running it. Agent mode proposes a plan with steps and a time estimate, waits for you to type Execute, and then produces files. Asking for a finished workbook in Chat mode returns text, not a file.
How much AI work does a seat include?
The pricing page describes usage only in words: Standard on Lite, Extended on Pro and twice Pro on Max. The terms add the rule behind it: each seat carries a fixed allowance per billing period, unused usage does not roll over, and when the allowance is gone Ajelix stops processing AI tasks until the next period or an upgrade. Overage is not billed automatically, so the risk is an interrupted job rather than a surprise invoice.
The hard numbers on the page are file and storage limits. A single upload can be 20 MB on Lite, 100 MB on Pro and 500 MB on Max, with 500 MB, 2 GB and 10 GB of workspace. Compute also grows by plan, from 1 CPU with 1 GB RAM to 4 CPUs with 8 GB RAM, which the page ties to heavier PDF, OCR and statistics work.
Is there still a free way to try it?
Yes, but the pages describe it differently. The terms, effective October 6, 2026, give new accounts a 7-day free trial. The pricing FAQ still says the freemium plan includes 10 free requests every month, and the Google Sheets page promises free requests without a credit card. Treat the trial as the current offer and check the account screen for any monthly free allowance after day 7.
How do Google Sheets files connect?
There are two routes. In the chat, the agent can read from or update a Google Sheet through a public link. For private files, the add-on guide installs AI Agent for Work from the Google Workspace Marketplace, opens it from the Extensions menu in Sheets, Docs, Slides or Forms, and connects it with an API key copied from the Integrations tab of your Ajelix profile. Usage through the add-on counts against the same Ajelix account.
Where are uploaded files processed?
The terms state that AI inference runs on servers owned and operated by Ajelix in the EU and that content is not sent to external AI providers, except during an infrastructure disruption, when a vetted external provider may be used. Platform data is hosted in the EU/EEA at Hetzner and OVHcloud in Germany and on Ajelix servers, and customer data is not used to train AI models. Deleting an account erases prompts, outputs and files immediately with no recovery, so export first.
How could you check Ajelix before paying?
Proposed evaluation · not performed yet
Check during the 7-day trial whether Agent mode turns a sales export into a correct workbook, using a file you are allowed to upload.
- Prepare a CSV of 500 order rows under 20 MB, with date, region and revenue columns, and note the true revenue total.
- In Agent mode ask for a workbook with a pivot table of revenue by region and month and one chart.
- Read the proposed plan, type Execute and download the Excel file.
- Open it in Excel or Google Sheets and confirm the pivot table is a real pivot with formulas, not pasted values.
- Compare the grand total with the figure you noted.
Accept if the totals match and the file recalculates when one revenue value is changed. Reject if the totals differ or the file contains only static numbers. No result is recorded here.

Frequently asked questions
Who operates Ajelix?
SIA AJELIX, a Latvian company with registration number 40203482950 and a registered office at Peldu iela 7, Jelgava. The terms are governed by Latvian law, business disputes go to Latvian courts, and EU consumers keep their local protections. The About page names Arturs Jaunosans and Agnese Jaunosane as founders. Support is reached at support@ajelix.com.
Can I get a refund from Ajelix?
It depends on who you are. Business customers are refunded only if the service was not used, or if the product is materially unavailable or support misses its 48 business-hour target. EU consumers can withdraw within 14 days, minus usage already consumed and the elapsed days. Subscriptions bought through Google Workspace Marketplace follow Google's rules.
Does Ajelix send my data to OpenAI or other AI companies?
Not in normal operation. The terms say inference runs on Ajelix-owned servers in the EU and content is not sent to external AI providers. The exception is a disruption of Ajelix infrastructure, when a vetted external provider may be used for as long as needed, under safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.
Is Ajelix still a formula generator?
The formula and template tools are now part of a broader agent. Version 3.0.0 in February 2026 introduced the AI Agent with no migration required, and the pricing FAQ still counts 17 AI tools with Google Sheets and Excel add-ons. Formulas are now requested in chat or Agent mode rather than in a separate single-purpose tool.
Can schools or non-profits get a discount on Ajelix?
Yes, on request. The pricing FAQ says Ajelix offers a special plan for schools, universities and non-profit organizations and asks them to contact the support team; the plan terms are not published. Enterprise customers buy through custom contracts with invoicing, and there is no self-service billing for those agreements.
