Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Free credits every day The free plan refills 50 credits daily, which Suno says is enough for 10 songs, with no credit card needed.
- Ownership on paid plans The terms assign Suno's rights in outputs to Pro and Premier subscribers, and Suno claims no share of royalties.
- Studio exports are not capped Premier users can export work from Suno Studio without using their monthly download allowance.
- Credits after the allowance runs out Subscribers who use up their monthly credits get 50 credits a day until the next billing cycle, still with commercial rights.
Limits
- Commercial use depends on a paid download Since September 3, 2026, only outputs obtained through a permitted download on your tier may be exploited commercially.
- No retroactive rights for free songs Songs made on the free plan stay personal-use only after you subscribe, apart from case-by-case exceptions.
- Credits and downloads lapse monthly Plan credits and downloads do not roll over, and purchased top-up credits work only while you are subscribed.
- Copyright is not guaranteed Suno gives no warranty that copyright vests in its outputs, and US law protects human-created material.
- Payments are final Subscription payments are non-refundable unless Suno decides otherwise or local law gives a statutory right.
Who it suits
- Hobbyists making songs to share the free plan fits songs that live on Suno and travel by link; it gives no commercial rights and no monthly downloads.
- Video and podcast creators consider Pro when you publish up to about 20 finished tracks a month on YouTube, TikTok or a podcast and need commercial rights.
- Songwriters releasing to streaming services Pro or Premier covers distribution through the distributor you choose; register your own lyrics separately, since fully generated music may not be protected.
- Producers working in a DAW consider Premier when you need Suno Studio, MIDI, Advanced Split stems or more than 20 downloads a month.

How far does it go?
- Free credits in songsSuno says 50 daily credits make about 10 songs, so a song costs about 5 credits (50 / 10) and a 30-day month allows about 300 songs (10 x 30), all for personal use only.
- Pro generations per commercial downloadAt about 5 credits per song, Pro's 2,500 monthly credits cover about 500 songs (2,500 / 5), yet only 20 can be downloaded with commercial rights: one for every 25 songs generated.
- Premier with stemsAuto Split costs 50 credits, so splitting all 60 monthly downloads uses 3,000 of Premier's 10,000 credits (60 x 50), leaving about 1,400 songs of generation (7,000 / 5).

Key features
| Feature | What it does | Watch out |
|---|---|---|
| Song generation | Describe a genre, mood or topic, or paste your own lyrics, and Suno builds a full track with vocals, instruments and production. | — |
| v6 model family | v6-mini is open to every plan, while v6 and the more experimental v6-wild are reserved for Pro and Premier subscribers. | — |
| Song editing | Crop and fade on every plan; Pro and Premier add Replace Section to rewrite lyrics or change a middle part of a song. | — |
| Stem separation | Split a finished song into up to 12 instrument and vocal stems, or pull out a single part, for mixing elsewhere.Auto Split creates up to 12 stems for 50 credits, and Split from Mix extracts one part plus the remainder for 10 credits per stem. | It needs a paid plan, and Advanced Split, with a choice of nearly 100 instruments, is Premier-only. |
| Voices and Custom Models | Paid plans can sing with your own recorded voice and train up to three private models on songs you own.Upload at least six songs you own the rights to and Suno trains a private model in about 2 to 5 minutes, up to three per account. | Only Pro and Premier can create them, and a custom model cannot be shared with other users. |
| Suno Studio | Premier's browser-based audio workstation with multitrack editing, MIDI, effects, recording and WAV export.Studio exports the full mix, a selected time range or multitrack stems as WAV, and turns a stem into MIDI for 10 credits. | Studio is part of Premier only; Free and Pro subscribers cannot open it. |
| Mobile apps | iOS and Android apps for creating, listening and sharing, with downloads saved as MP3 on mobile. | — |
| Downloads | A song counts as one download whatever the format, and its stems are included in that same download. | Pro gets 20 downloads a month and Premier 60; unused ones lapse, and the limit also covers songs made before the rules changed. |
Which Suno plan fits how you use your songs?
Editorial assessment
Choose by how many finished songs leave Suno each month, not by how many you generate, because credits are plentiful and downloads are not. Anything you plan to earn money from must be downloaded on a paid plan.
- FreeEUR 0
if songs only need to be played and shared through Suno links, for personal projects.
- ProEUR 7.20 per month
if you release or publish up to 20 songs a month and want the v6 models, Replace Section and basic stem splitting.
- PremierEUR 22 per month
above 20 and up to 60 downloads a month, or when you need Suno Studio, MIDI or Advanced Split stems for work in a DAW.
Yearly billing lowers the monthly price by about a fifth but is charged for the year, and payments are generally not refunded. If you need spoken audio rather than music, the ElevenLabs and Murf profiles in the audio tools category cover voice generation.
When can you use a Suno song commercially?
Under the Terms of Service effective September 3, 2026, commercial use needs two conditions: the song was made on Pro or Premier, and you obtained it through a permitted download within your plan’s monthly allowance. Output that you did not download through Suno cannot be exploited commercially, and recording or stream-ripping a song is prohibited. Suno may add a fingerprint, watermark or metadata showing the tier and download status, and you may not remove it.
- Free plan songs are for personal, non-commercial use. Suno owns them, and subscribing later does not make them commercial except where Suno grants a case-by-case exception.
- Free trial downloads are personal-use only as well; accounts opened before September 3, 2026 have up to 7 for life, while newer free accounts may receive them only occasionally.
- Pro and Premier downloads carry commercial rights: distribution to Spotify or Apple Music, use in videos, film or games, and direct sales, without crediting Suno.
- After you cancel, songs you downloaded while subscribed keep their commercial rights.
How do credits and downloads work together?
Credits pay for generation. Free accounts get 50 credits a day, refilled at midnight UTC, and Suno says that is enough for 10 songs. Pro receives 2,500 credits and Premier 10,000 on the same date and time each month as the original purchase, including on annual plans. Unused subscription credits disappear at the reset, and subscribers who run out get the free plan’s 50 daily credits until the next cycle.
Downloads are counted separately: 20 a month on Pro and 60 on Premier, reset on the billing date. Downloading the same song again, in another format or with its stems still counts once, and failed downloads do not count. The limits cover your whole library, so an older song you never downloaded uses a download today. Extra downloads can be bought, and bought download packs roll over while monthly ones do not.
What does Premier add beyond more credits and downloads?
Premier is the only plan with Suno Studio, a browser-based workstation for multitrack editing, recording, effects and MIDI, and work exported from Studio is not limited by the download count. Studio exports the full song, a time range or all tracks as WAV stems, and converts a stem to MIDI for 10 credits. Premier also unlocks Advanced Split, which separates a song into stems chosen from nearly 100 instruments.
The pricing page lists audio uploads of up to 8 minutes on Free and 30 on paid plans, while older help articles give 60 seconds and 8 minutes, so check the limit in the Create form before relying on long uploads.
Who owns a Suno song, and can it be copyrighted?
For Pro and Premier subscribers, the terms assign Suno’s rights in the output to you, and Suno takes no share of royalties from commercial use. Ownership is not the same as copyright: Suno makes no promise that copyright exists in any output, and its help center notes that US law protects human-created work, so a prompt alone does not make you the author.
Lyrics you wrote yourself are yours and can usually be registered on their own, and some registrars may treat Suno as an instrument when the human contribution is significant. Some distributors exclude songs that do not qualify for copyright, so read their terms before uploading.
What should you test before paying for Suno?
Proposed evaluation · not performed yet
On a free account, write one set of your own lyrics and a style prompt, then generate on v6-mini until you have a take you would publish, counting the credits spent. Accept Suno if a usable song arrives within one day’s 50 credits and the vocals follow your lyrics; reject it if structure or pronunciation still fails after that. Do not download or publish free results for commercial use. Then take a single month of Pro, regenerate the same brief on v6, download the chosen take in WAV and confirm it appears as a permitted download in your account.
Is Suno worth it?
Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.
Worth it if
- You want to turn lyrics or a text prompt into a finished song for fun or demos, because the free plan refills daily and needs no credit card.
- You plan to release or monetize songs and can budget for a paid tier, since commercial rights attach to downloads made while subscribed.
Probably not if
- You want to publish songs you already made on the free plan, because subscribing later does not make them commercial except in case-by-case exceptions.
- You need to bank credits for later or expect refunds, because plan credits and downloads lapse each month and payments are generally final.

Frequently asked questions
Can I cancel Suno and keep my songs?
Yes. After a cancellation your library stays in the account and every song remains playable and shareable on the free tier, but further downloads follow free-tier limits. Rights to songs you downloaded while subscribed continue. Web subscriptions are cancelled at suno.com/account; App Store and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled in the device settings.
Can I get a refund from Suno?
Payments are final unless Suno decides otherwise or local law gives a statutory refund right. The help center lists cases it usually helps with, such as buying a yearly plan by mistake or a subscription left completely unused, and it offers credits rather than refunds for outages. Changing your mind months later does not qualify.
Why was VAT added to my Suno purchase?
Suno subscriptions and add-on credits count as digital goods, so VAT is charged at the rate of the buyer's country in the EU. Suno treats accounts as personal use, which means business tax exemptions do not apply; exempt individuals are asked to contact billing@suno.com.
Which file formats can I download from Suno?
MP3 is available on every plan, on web and mobile. WAV is limited to Pro and Premier and only on suno.com, because mobile downloads default to MP3. Songs can also be saved as video files, stems come with the song's download, and MIDI is available to Premier subscribers for songs made in Suno Studio.
Can I earn money from a Suno remix?
Only in narrow cases. The terms make remixes created through Suno's remix feature with another user joint works for personal, non-commercial use on any tier. Suno's help center adds that remixing someone else's song is never eligible for monetization, while remixes of your own subscribed songs can be.
What happens to songs made with older Suno models?
They stay in your library, playable and shareable, exactly as generated. Retiring a model only stops new generations with it. You can still extend, remix or cover an older song, but those operations now run on the v6 models, so the result may sound different from the original, which is never modified.
How much does Suno AI cost?
Suno has a free plan at EUR 0, Pro at EUR 7.20 a month billed yearly (EUR 9 billed monthly) and Premier at EUR 22 a month billed yearly (EUR 28 billed monthly), as shown on its pricing page from Germany, with taxes added at checkout. Free songs are personal use only; paid plans add monthly downloads with commercial rights.
Is Suno allowed on Spotify?
Yes, but only for songs you downloaded while subscribed to Pro or Premier. Suno's terms give those downloads commercial rights, including distribution to streaming platforms through a distributor you choose, without crediting Suno. Free-plan songs are personal use only, and some distributors exclude songs not eligible for copyright, so read their terms before uploading.
Can I sell music made with Suno AI?
Yes, if you got the song through a permitted download on Pro or Premier, within the 20 or 60 downloads your plan allows each month. Suno takes no share of earnings, and rights to songs downloaded while subscribed continue after you cancel. Free-plan songs stay personal use, and Suno does not promise that copyright exists in any output.
