Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full

Strengths

  • Edit the assembled story A timeline lets a reviewer examine how generated and supplied material fit together.
  • Check cost before generation Model settings can be reviewed before committing credits; the pricing page's example counts vary by model.
  • Free guest seats on higher plans Plus and Max add guest seats with 190 credits each, so reviewers can join without taking a paid seat.

Limits

  • Membership does not equal model access Starter lists Lite-only access to frontier agents, which Plus and Max include.
  • Revision after expiry Editing an old paid project after downgrade may require a paid plan for a clean export.
  • Allowance expires monthly Unused monthly credits do not roll over, so a quiet month leaves paid credits unused.

Who it suits

  • Teams assembling short explainers Useful when the deliverable needs several shots, edits and review.
  • Buyers budgeting only from sample clip counts Different models and retries change the actual output per credit.
  • Teams with outside reviewers Plus and Max let reviewers join as guests, each with a separate credit allowance.

Unused monthly credits do not roll over, and each seat's, guest's and free-plan allowance is separate. Example generation counts on the page depend on the model and are not guarantees. Separate the script decision from the shot decision

Before generating footage, make a three-row shot list: what the viewer must learn, which visual proves it, and whether the asset is supplied or generated. A polished transition cannot repair an unsupported factual statement. Keep the final call to action as editable copy so it can change without regenerating every shot.

Preview and export differ: the watermark guide says watermarks showing a source library appear in preview by default and are removed on export from a paid plan, while videos exported before upgrading keep theirs until re-exported. It does not say what the free plan exports, so check one short file before relying on it.

Budget seats and guests separately

A team’s paid seats and guest allowances should be budgeted separately. Do not assume that every collaborator can generate at the same volume or that a shared project changes the owner’s subscription terms.

Check the actual export and the future edit

InVideo’s watermark guide distinguishes preview branding from the exported paid-plan file. Its downgrade guide warns that later edits may need a paid plan for an unwatermarked download. Deliver both the approved file and a note about who retains the editable project.

Evaluate a three-shot explainer

Proposed evaluation, not performed: on an active paid plan, use a fictional library event and assets you own. Select only models actually included in that plan.

  1. Write one sentence each for the problem, the activity and the invitation. Put the event date in the supplied copy, not inside generated scenery.
  2. Estimate one initial generation and one retry for each generated shot using the displayed costs. Do not use the provider’s example output counts as guarantees.
  3. Assemble the shots, add the supplied copy and inspect reading time, continuity and audio transitions.
  4. Export a short file and check it outside the browser for branding, dimensions and missing audio.
  5. Keep the project link and an approved exported master. Ask who will pay for revisions after the current plan ends.

The evaluation passes only if the story is accurate, the export meets the brief and the future editor has an agreed access route.

Is InVideo worth it?

Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.

Worth it if

  • You are assembling a short explainer from several generated and supplied shots and want a timeline to review how they fit together.
  • Your reviewers need access without a paid seat, since Plus and Max include free guest seats with their own credits.

Probably not if

  • You plan a team workflow on Starter: it allows no guest seats and lists Lite agents only.
  • You expect a fixed number of videos from the headline credit count, because model choice and retries change the cost per clip.

Frequently asked questions

Is InVideo free to use?

Yes, there is a free plan, but it gives limited credits that reset weekly on Monday at 00:00 UTC, and the pricing page states no fixed amount. The pages we read do not say what a free export looks like, so export one short file and inspect it for branding before planning a project around it.

Do you need to pay for InVideo?

No, not to start: InVideo has a free plan with limited credits that reset weekly, and the pricing page states no fixed amount. Paying matters when you need more allowance, more seats or guest seats. In euros, as the page showed them to us, Starter is €20 per seat a month billed annually, Plus €36 and Max €75; the page may show another currency elsewhere.

Do unused InVideo credits roll over?

No. Unused monthly credits do not roll over to the next cycle, so a plan sized for one busy month wastes allowance in a quiet one. Each paid seat, each guest seat and the free plan also keep a separate allowance, so credits cannot be pooled across people.

How many seats does each InVideo plan allow?

Starter allows up to 5 seats and no guest seats. Plus allows up to 10 seats and adds 10 free guest seats with 190 credits each. Max allows up to 20 seats and 20 free guest seats with 190 credits each. Seat limits matter more than credit totals for review-heavy teams.

Can I edit an InVideo project after cancelling a paid plan?

Possibly, but a clean download may need a paid plan again. InVideo's help article on editing after a downgrade warns that revising a project created on a paid plan can require paying to export without a watermark. Agree beforehand who keeps the project and who pays for later revisions.
