LuvVoice: 10,000 free characters a month, but commercial rights and API start at Plus, $13 a month
Updated September 29, 2026 · By Elias Brandt · Documentation review, not tested hands-on
Pros
- Credits that do not expire
- Refund for unused plans
- Stated ownership of output
Cons
- Conflicting plan details
- Small cloned-voice allowance
- One refund per account
Bottom line
10,000 standard characters a month, 3,000 per conversion; 1 custom voice with 500 custom credits; MP3 download; ads and captcha; commercial use not ticked in the comparison table.
You listen to short documents or drafts, because Free converts up to 3,000 characters at a time and 10,000 a month.
You need commercial rights on Free or Lite without checking, because the pricing page, comparison table and homepage FAQ disagree on which plans include them.

Strengths, limits and who it suits, in full
Strengths
- Credits that do not expire One-time packs never expire and are only used after the monthly subscription quota runs out.
- Refund for unused plans The refund policy allows a request within 30 days if no characters were used.
- Stated ownership of output The terms say you own the audio you create, subject to law and third-party rights.
Limits
- Conflicting plan details The homepage FAQ, plan cards and comparison table disagree on the free quota and on which plans include commercial use.
- Small cloned-voice allowance Free gets 500 custom credits and Lite 10,000 a month, against 700,000 standard credits on Lite.
- One refund per account The refund policy allows one refund, and none once more than 1,000 characters are used in a billing period.
Who it suits
- Students and readers listening to documents Free covers short documents, but longer files need Lite for 20,000 characters per conversion.
- Creators publishing monetized videos choose Plus, the plan where the plan cards and comparison table both list commercial rights.
- Developers adding speech to an app the API starts at Plus; Lite buyers cannot create API tokens.
- Occasional users with uneven months a one-time pack avoids unused monthly quota because its credits never expire.
How much does LuvVoice cost?
Prices confirmed · checked
Regional prices: Prices are in US dollars as shown to our Germany-based server; payment is by Stripe, and PayPal or crypto can be arranged through support.
Monthly quotas reset on the day of the month your subscription started, and subscription credits are used before one-time credits. Existing subscribers keep their price after a price increase, but a failed renewal moves you to the new price. Purchases made in the iOS app are billed and refunded by Apple.

How far does it go?
- Plus billed monthly versus annuallyMonthly: 12 x $13 = $156 a year. Annual: $93, a saving of $63, or about 40%. Each month includes 1,500,000 standard credits, so a year of Plus carries 18,000,000 standard credits, against 2,000,000 in the $32 one-time pack.

Key features
| Feature | What it does | Watch out |
|---|---|---|
| 200+ standard voices in 70+ languages on Free, 300+ on paid plans | — | |
| Voice cloning from a 10 to 60 second sample in 16 languages | Creates a custom voice from an uploaded or recorded sample of at least 10 seconds and reads new text in it, in 16 supported languages. | Cloned voices spend a separate, much smaller custom-credit pool, and pauses or speech-rate changes are not supported for them. |
| Separate monthly credit pools for standard and custom voices | — | |
| Document and ebook to audio conversion | — | |
| Adjustable speech rate and pitch for standard voices | Converts pasted text or uploaded documents into MP3 with a chosen voice, rate and pitch, drawing on Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and LuvVoice models depending on the voice. | Free stops at 3,000 characters per conversion and 10,000 a month, and shows ads and a captcha. |
| MP3 download, with generated files stored for 30 days | — | |
| REST API from the Plus plan | Plus and higher plans create Bearer tokens in the dashboard, list standard or cloned voices and generate MP3s returned as base64 data and a signed URL valid for 30 days. | Lite has no API, requests are limited to 10 a minute, and a request with too few credits is refused rather than partly converted. |
| One-time credit packs that never expire | — |
How much does the free plan convert each month?
The pricing page gives Free 10,000 standard characters a month, with at most 3,000 characters in one conversion, MP3 downloads and adjustable rate and pitch. Free also allows one cloned voice with 500 custom credits. Ads and a captcha stay on until you pay. The homepage FAQ still says the free plan converts 20,000 characters a month, which does not match the current plan table.
Quotas reset on your own monthly cycle rather than on the first of the month. A Free user converting a 12,000-character article would run out of monthly quota and also need four separate conversions, because each one stops at 3,000 characters.
Which plan gives commercial rights and API access?
The sources disagree on commercial use, so check the plan before you publish. The Plus and Enterprise cards list unlimited commercial rights, and so do the three one-time packs. The comparison table also ticks unlimited commercial use for Lite, but not for Free. Separately, the homepage FAQ and the terms say you own the audio you create, subject to law and third-party rights, without naming a plan.
API access is clearer: the API documentation says Plus or higher is required to create tokens, and the table leaves Free and Lite without it. Editorial assessment: Plus is the only plan where the cards, the table and the API documentation all agree on commercial rights and API access; ask support in writing before relying on Free or Lite output in paid work.
How do standard and custom credits work?
Every plan splits its allowance into two pools. Standard credits pay for the preset voices, and custom credits pay for cloned voices and featured public custom voices. The pools are far apart:
The one-time packs follow the same split. The $15 and $32 packs hold 800,000 and 2,000,000 standard credits and cannot be used with cloned voices, while the $30 Custom Credits Pack holds 500,000 custom credits for cloned voices only. Pack credits never expire, and subscription credits are always spent first.
- Free: 10,000 standard and 500 custom credits a month.
- Lite: 700,000 standard and 10,000 custom credits a month.
- Plus: 1,500,000 standard and 30,000 custom credits a month.
- Enterprise: 6,000,000 standard and 200,000 custom credits a month.
What do you need before cloning a voice?
The terms allow cloning only of voices and recordings you own or have every right, licence and consent to use. If the voice is not your own, you must have clear and valid authorization from that person, verifiable parental consent for a minor, and you must disclose synthetic audio where law or platform rules require it. The cloning page itself shows a SpongeBob clone as a sample; a character voice owned by a studio still needs the rights holder permission under those terms.
The cloning FAQ asks for a sample of at least 10 seconds, ideally 10 to 60 seconds with little background noise, and lists 16 supported languages. Pauses and speech-rate changes do not work with cloned voices. The privacy policy says voice samples may be sent to Microsoft, Google or LuvVoice model infrastructure and are kept as long as reasonably necessary, so deletion may not be immediate.
How long do files and generated audio links last?
Generated files are kept for 30 days on paid plans, and the Free plan card promises the same, although the comparison table leaves Free storage unticked. Download anything you need to keep within that window instead of relying on the History page as an archive.
The API behaves the same way: each response carries the MP3 as base64 data and a signed URL that stays valid for 30 days, along with the credits used and remaining. A request that needs more credits than you have returns an insufficient-credits error and consumes nothing, and requests are limited to 10 a minute.
When can you get a refund?
The refund policy, effective June 6, 2026, allows a request within 30 days of a charge if no characters were used, and within 7 days if fewer than 1,000 characters were used. Using more than 1,000 characters in a billing period rules out a refund, partial refunds are not offered, and each account gets one refund.
Charges made in error, fraud on a compromised account and technical problems that blocked use are refundable if reported within 30 days. Subscriptions bought in the iOS app follow Apple billing and refunds, and deleting a LuvVoice account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
Can the free plan deliver a usable narration and a cloned-voice line?
Proposed evaluation · not performed yet
On a Free account, convert a 2,900-character product explainer you wrote with one standard English voice, then clone your own voice from a 30-second recording of yourself and generate a 400-character line with it.
- Record the account plan, the voice name and the standard and custom credits shown before and after each step.
- Download both MP3 files and note the date they would expire from History.
- Listen for three product names, one date and one price in the explainer, and compare the cloned line with your original recording.
- Check whether the 400-character clone fits inside the 500 custom credits and whether a second attempt is refused.
Accept the result if both files download, the names, date and price are read correctly and the credit counters match the characters converted. Reject it if a conversion is cut short, credits drop by more than the text length or the clone cannot be generated on Free. No audio result is reported until the run is actually done.
If you need a free converter without an account and a weekly rather than monthly quota, compare TTSMaker; for voice cloning with published commercial licensing tiers, see ElevenLabs.
Is LuvVoice worth it?
Documentation review plus dated public user reports. Documentation review, not tested hands-on. Not scored.
Worth it if
- You listen to short documents or drafts, because Free converts up to 3,000 characters at a time and 10,000 a month.
- You publish monetized audio or build on the API, because Plus is the plan where the cards, table and API documentation agree on both.
- Your usage is uneven from month to month, because one-time packs never expire and are spent after the monthly quota.
Probably not if
- You need commercial rights on Free or Lite without checking, because the pricing page, comparison table and homepage FAQ disagree on which plans include them.
- You expect heavy cloned-voice use on a low plan, because custom credits are a small pool, 500 on Free and 10,000 on Lite.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I still see ads after paying for LuvVoice?
The pricing FAQ says newly logged-in users can keep seeing ads because of earlier cookie settings. Refreshing the page while signed in to the paid account should remove them. If ads continue after a refresh, contact support with the account email, since ad-free use is one of the paid plan features.
What happens to my subscription price if LuvVoice raises prices?
According to the pricing FAQ, existing subscriptions keep the price you signed up at. If you cancel and subscribe again, or a renewal fails because of an expired card or insufficient funds, you are charged the new price. Keep payment details current if you want to hold an older rate.
Can I pay without a credit card?
Card payments go through Stripe on the website. The pricing FAQ says PayPal or crypto can be arranged by emailing support if card payment keeps failing. Purchases inside the iOS app are charged to your Apple ID instead, and their cancellation and refunds are handled through Apple rather than LuvVoice.
Why does my PDF upload fail to produce any text?
The homepage FAQ says most PDFs extract normally, but image-only or scanned PDFs may fail because there is no text layer to read. Run optical character recognition on the file first, or paste the text directly. Remember the per-conversion limit of 3,000 characters on Free when pasting.
Is lovevoice.ai the same service as LuvVoice?
Search results show lovevoice.ai, a site with a similar name, next to luvvoice.com. The luvvoice.com terms name Soundsynth Tech LLC as the operator and do not mention lovevoice.ai, so check that the address is luvvoice.com before signing up or paying.
