Which Midjourney plan fits how much you generate?
Editorial assessment
The plan choice depends on four documented lines: how many Fast minutes you burn, whether you can wait in the Relax queue, whether work must stay off the public Explore page, and whether your company earns more than USD 1,000,000 a year.
- Basic fits light use of up to about 200 image prompts a month, because it has 200 Fast minutes and no Relax Mode to fall back on.
- Standard fits anyone who will run out of Fast time, since unlimited Relax images keep working after the Fast hours are gone; it is also the first plan with HD video.
- Pro is needed when unreleased client work must stay private through Stealth mode, or when a business above the revenue line uses the output.
- Mega only adds Fast hours and parallel video jobs over Pro. The USD 60 price gap buys 15 extra hours at USD 4 each (60 ÷ 4), so Mega pays off once you would top up Pro by more than 15 hours, that is, above about 45 Fast hours a month.
How does GPU time work instead of credits?
Midjourney meters usage in GPU time, the processing time its servers spend on your jobs, not in credits or image counts; the help center compares it to a phone data plan. One image prompt usually costs about one minute, an SD prompt about 0.8 minutes, an HD image prompt about 1.3 minutes, and a batch of four SD videos about eight minutes. Upscales and unusual aspect ratios can cost more.
Fast time is a monthly allowance that resets when the subscription renews, and unused minutes do not carry over, even on annual plans. Relax Mode does not draw on Fast time; jobs wait in a queue for roughly 0 to 30 minutes depending on how much you use it. Extra Fast time costs USD 4 per hour, expires after 60 days and cannot be refunded.

Can you try Midjourney before paying?
Not on the main service. There is no free plan and no free trial on midjourney.com or in Discord; the help center points to a limited trial only in the niji journey app for iOS and Android, a separate product focused on anime and illustrative styles.
The refund rule is narrow: you qualify only if the account has used less than 20 GPU minutes across its lifetime, including Relax time. Yearly billing is selected by default at checkout, so choose the Monthly Billing tab to pay for a single month.
Can you edit and download results after generation?
Yes. The Edit Model changes an image from written instructions, builds new images from up to four references, and drives inpainting and outpainting in the Editor. The Editor adds layers, smart selection and custom aspect ratios, and can download the result or save a transparent PNG of erased areas. The Edit Model does not work with the --tile parameter, and its image results cannot currently be used with Remix.
In V8.2, SD images start at 1024 x 1024 pixels at a 1:1 ratio, and the Subtle or Creative upscaler doubles them to 2048 x 2048; HD images generate at that size and cannot be upscaled further. Video downloads come as MP4 or GIF at 480p, or 720p on Standard and above.
How public are your creations by default?
Midjourney describes itself as open by default: every image and video can surface on the Explore page, including work made in private Discord servers or direct messages. Stealth mode, on Pro and Mega, hides new creations on the website.
Trashing an image is not the same as hiding it, and individual creations cannot be deleted. Removing everything requires an account deletion request, which completes within 30 days.
What do the usage rights and account rules say?
The help center says you own the images and videos you create, even after cancelling. Two exceptions apply: upscaling another member’s image does not transfer ownership, and a business grossing more than the revenue line above needs Pro or Mega for company use. Midjourney does not give copyright guidance.
The terms prohibit automated tools for accessing or generating content and allow one user per registered account.

Generate drafts, refine one image with the Edit Model and upscale it, then animate it and note the Fast minutes used after each step. Check whether the outputs appear on the Explore page and whether the file sizes suit your print or web needs.

How many jobs can I run at the same time?
It depends on the plan. Basic runs up to 3 Fast image prompts at once and Standard 3 in Fast or Relax. Pro and Mega run up to 12 Fast image prompts or 3 in Relax. For video, the limits are 1, 3, 6 and 12 concurrent Fast jobs from Basic to Mega.
Is there a faster mode than Fast?
Yes. Turbo Mode can generate images up to four times faster than Fast Mode but uses double the Fast time, so it drains a monthly allowance twice as quickly. It is experimental, and the Version article marks it unavailable in V8.1 and in V8.2, the current default, so it works only with V7 and earlier models.
How long can a Midjourney video be?
A clip starts at 5 seconds and can be extended in 4-second steps up to four times, reaching a maximum of 21 seconds. SD output is 480p on every plan, while 720p HD needs Standard or higher and runs only in Fast Mode. MP4 comes in a social-optimized or raw version.
Do Discord and the website share one subscription?
Yes. A subscription works on both midjourney.com and the Discord bot, and settings such as speed mode and Stealth sync between them. Payments on either route are taken only in US dollars. Before subscribing again on another device, check that it is connected to the account that already holds your subscription.
Can an agency buy seats for its whole team?
Not as managed seats. Midjourney offers no seat or admin management and no SSO logins, and each account is for one user. Bulk invoicing is available for 50 or more yearly Pro or Mega plans, without an extra discount. Each designer therefore needs a separate subscription.
Can someone check whether an image came from Midjourney?
Yes, in many cases. Every delivered image carries a hidden ID tag, and a free checker at midjourney.com/verify can read it. Screenshots and edits often strip the tag, so an image without a readable tag may still come from Midjourney. The tag is part of Midjourney's content authenticity work.
